Data Scientist, Generative AI team (Helsinki/Oulu)

Your role as a Data Scientist will involve spearheading the advancement and upkeep of OP Group’s internal GPT Chat alongside your team, contributing to its evolution and maintenance. What is this about? 

We're expanding our Generative AI team and are currently seeking a Data Scientist to join our ranks. The Generative AI team is an emerging group responsible for optimizing OP's GPT chat for in-house use, which - when complete - will serve our employees in their daily work. The team will play a significant role in shaping the ultimate form and function of our GPT chat solution.

As a Data Scientist, you will have a crucial role within our team, actively contributing to the development of our final product. You will help GPT use cases come to life, be it with helping business users with prompt engineering, optimizing search engines, or experimenting with custom LLM solutions. 

You won't be working alone. Your teamwork will involve closely interacting with both the people who use our data within the organization and the team responsible for putting these ideas into practice. A crucial part of your job will also be designing the actual data product itself. This means defining the model, figuring out how it calculates information, and deciding how users will interact with it. You won't be doing this alone either—you'll collaborate with a developer to make this design a reality, contributing to the entire process of putting it into action. 

This opportunity is available in either Helsinki or Oulu, based on your preference. Like the rest of OP, we work in a flexible manner, combining both office days and remote work.  

What we hope from you? 

We are seeking a person who already has experience from Data Scientist work and related software development. You have a strong understanding of what creating an AI product entails. Experience with Azure and LLMs (Large language models) are considered as a plus. 

We also appreciate an understanding of deep learning and the ability to script for new data sources using Python. We hope that you are a person skilled with Data Scientist’s toolkit and are also enthusiastic with agile software development. 

We understand that you might not have experience in all these areas just yet. But what really matters is your motivation and willingness to learn and grow. In our team, we also appreciate taking initiative, strong teamwork skills, and a positive attitude. We also hope you are able to communicate clearly and understandably in English and/or Finnish.
